![]() ![]() ![]() Let's start with fortune cookies: even without contradictions with other stuff and that kind of thing, some fortune cookie fortunes just can't be said to be "true" or "false" at all. I'm sure there's some way to interpret the fortune as being fulfilled later and the like, but there's a lot more to this theory I have, that's just what got me started on all this.īasically, a lot of things in Everlost (fortune cookies, Objects of Power (O.O.P.s) (ex: Wurlitzer), significant things and places like the Trinity site and The Gadget, etc.) that would be ordinary, inanimate, and completely void of conscious in the living world have some sort of conscious influence over the events of Everlost. The issue arises when we later discover that skinjackers do not have such a choice in the way another afterlight might. ![]() It started with Allie's fortune: "Linger or light the choice will be yours" which is supposedly fulfilled at the end of book 1 ( Everlost) when Allie holds and everlost coin and it feels lukewarm, which she takes to mean she can stay in Everlost or continue holding the coin and go into the light. My first realization was that not all fortune cookie fortunes are true. Major spoiler warning for all three booksįrom when I first learned that Skinjackers can't leave Everlost via Everlost coins, I've been slowly developing this idea involving various elements of Everlost lore. ![]()
